Karma Mayet's sound is equal parts funk and glitter, cornbread and molasses: vital Roots music for the 21st century. Born in Chicago, vocalist/actor/composer Karma Mayet Johnson has performed and/or recorded with the Albany Symphony Orchestra, Meshell Ndegeocello, Burnt Sugar, Toshi Reagon, Antibalas, Melvin Van Peebles, The Roots, and Bajah and the Dry-Eye Crew. Featured in GO Magazine and on MTV, her vocals can be also heard on Lizz Wright's Fellowship and on The Mercy Suite, a collaboration between poet Yusef Komunyakaa and composer Tomas Doncker.
